Navratri 3rd day

Chandraghanta day 3Navratri 3rd day honours Chandraghanta. the third aspect of Goddess Durga, who is worshipped for peace, tranquillity and prosperity in life. Durga is know as the Mother, Ma and  so By the grace of Mother Chandraghanta all the limitations are burnt up and obstacles removed. The Mother holds you, her name means protectress, fortress, she holds you in her inner state peaceful like the moon.

Even though in battle her roar rocks the world, it is because she is a lover of truth and the demons, the hindrances are reflecting ego, negative tendencies rather than pure peaceful truth. At her essence is benevolence, peace and tranqulity radiate from her presence like the moon.

Chandraghanta forehead has a bell in the shape of a half moon, the sound of her bell alone is enough to terrify the demons. It is she who takes on Mahisasura, a demon who cannot be overtaken by any god or man (story later on in week).

Chandraghanta, bell brings us to a new resonance. When you enter a temple in India you ring the bell before entering, the bell tunes your energy, clears the pathways. Chandraghanta invites you to surrender and soften like the energy of the moon. The sound to clear and bring you to centre is mantra.

Mantra means to transcend the mind. Through mantra Chandraghanta initiates you into the new realm, surrender the old path or parading and overcome the inner demons of fear, greed, envy, and ignorance.

How can you dedicate to peace today?

will you peace emanate from the centre of all you do?

Ya Devi sarva bhuteshu shanthi roopaena samsthitha
Namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namah
(I bow to the Great Mother who manifests in all beings in the form of peace.)
